After the silk becomes hard, it can be treated in a variety of ways to restore its softness.
1. Use of care agents or softeners
Choose the right care agent: you can choose a professional silk care agent, you can also use shampoo, hair lotion and other mild, non-stimulating alternatives. These products usually contain ingredients that are able to nourish and soften silk.
How to use: Add an appropriate amount of care agent to clean water, soak the hardened silk product completely in water, and let it stand for 10-15 minutes. After that, clean the silk product with warm water, gently squeeze out the excess water, and avoid wringing it out.
2. Hand-rubbed
Soaking and wrapping: Soak the hardened silk product in clean water, then take it out and place it on a dry towel. A small amount of clean water should be left on the towel. Roll up the dry towel and tightly wrap around the silk product.
Rubbing: Hold a dry towel and rub the silk product evenly and gently for about 15 minutes. This method can make silk fiber soft by physical action without damaging it.
Wash and dry: After rubbing, remove the towel, clean the silk product with warm water, and gently squeeze out excess water. Then, put the silk products in a cool and ventilated place to dry, avoid direct sunlight.
3. Use white vinegar or table vinegar
Diluent soaking: dilute white vinegar or vinegar with water in a certain proportion (such as 1:10 ratio), then soak the hardened silk product in the diluent and let it stand for a period of time (such as 10-15 minutes). The acidic components in white vinegar help soften silk fibers.
Cleaning and drying: After soaking, clean the silk products with clean water and gently squeeze out excess water. Then dry according to the above method.
4. Precautions
Avoid the use of alkaline detergents: silk is not alkali-resistant, so you should avoid the use of washing powder, laundry soap and other alkaline detergents to clean silk products.
Drying method: silk products should be exposed to the outside and placed in a cool and ventilated place to avoid fading or hardening caused by direct sunlight.
Ironing and storage: if you need to iron silk products, you should use low temperature ironing, and cover with a layer of wet cloth to prevent high temperature makes silk brittle. When storing, avoid placing silk products in damp or direct sunlight to prevent mildew and fading.
Hardened silk products can be effectively treated to restore their original softness and gloss.
